Love your stuff for longer

“Love Your Stuff For Longer”  the motto of the initiative that promotes a more sustainable lifestyle and which is highlighted with several actions at MAR Shopping Algarve.

By encouraging customers to reflect on the long-term value of the products they purchase on Black Friday, Ingka Centers and its partners hope to help consumers rethink their consumption cycle, buying only what they really need, preserving the articles that acquire and extend their life, either by recycling or giving them a new lease of life.

During SEIVA21 promoted by APA – Portuguese Environment Agency, MAR Shopping Algarve organized the 2nd Edition of the beach cleaning at Ria Formosa, which ended with a free workshop on the Impact of pollution on marine organisms, kindly held by CCMAR – Marine Science Center. Our responsibility, as members of this community, is to be involved in the wellbeing and the preservation of resources. The initiative had the participation of 67 volunteers, guaranteeing the collection of 2,640 liters of garbage and a recycling rate of 32%.

MAR Shopping Algarve received the sculpture "Iron Man, Lungs of Glass" by sculptor Carlos de Oliveira Correia.

Smoking has severe impacts, not only on human health but also on ecosystems. Every year, tobacco kills more than 8 million people worldwide. Through a glass bottle, the sculpture by Carlos de Oliveira Correia reflects the purity and fragility of the human lung in the face of the dangers of smoking.

In 2019, the "Caça à Beata" campaign raised awareness of 320 students in schools in Faro, Loulé and Lagos, who collected 95,000 cigarette filters within only an hour!

At MAR de Letras (Floor 1), MAR Shopping Algarve hosted a talk on the "Contribution of Volunteering and Citizen Science to the Study of Marine Litter" and its impacts on the environment, society and the economy.

Marine litter is a serious global environmental problem, affecting all oceans and marine ecosystems. In this sense, the community's engagement in initiatives such as beach cleaning actions or in the raising of awareness to promote solutions to fight marine pollution are essential.

Integrated in SEIVA21 - Week of Education and Environmental Volunteering Initiatives and in the ALIMAR - Marine Waste Action project, this initiative is organised by Centro Ciência Viva de Tavira, Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente and MAR Shopping Algarve.

European Researchers' Night

MAR Shopping Algarve hosted the European Researchers' Night (ERN)! 👩‍🔬🔍 The European Researchers' Night (ERN) 2021 is an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005, which takes place on the 24th of September in several European cities.
