Prevent It Like a Gentleman

MAR Shopping Algarve announces the return of the “Prevent it Like a Gentleman” campaign, a solidarity initiative focused on men's health, which takes place between May 4 and 19 at the Meeting Place.

The seventh edition of this campaign aims to promote the importance of prostate cancer prevention and men's mental health by offering PSA screenings at the HPA Health Clinic, subject to availability.

In addition to the screenings, the action will feature various activities, including exhibitions of DGR and Triumph motorcycles, which will take place between April 30 and May 19. The work of artist João Jesus, known for reusing motorcycle, bicycle and car parts in his metal creations, will also be on display.

The “Prevent it Like a Gentleman” campaign is once again associated with the international project “The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride”, which on May 19 will take a vintage motorcycle route from Faro to MAR Shopping Algarve.

The event will end with live music from 2pm to 8pm in the Meeting Place leisure area. All participants will also be able to record the moment and take photos of their bikes in a photowall created for the purpose.

Since its inception, this initiative has recorded 1,470 PSA screenings, resulting in the early detection and treatment of several cases of prostate cancer. In the last two years, 5% of the 449 tests carried out have led to 22 people being referred for appropriate treatment.
