With the vision of creating a better everyday life for the majority of people, MAR Shopping Algarve integrates sustainability into its entire operation. ♻️
Within the scope of its sustainability strategy, it intends to play a positive role in society, maximizing its impact in sustainable actions and environmental protection, promoting equality and inclusion, The Roupeiro Solidário, launched in June 2022, invites and encourages the delivery of clothing, footwear and accessories in good condition, which are subsequently donated to various institutions in the region. We rely on the Bank of Donated Goods to identify the needs of the institutions benefiting from this project.
Aware of the enormous difficulties that IPSS face on a daily basis, we are sure that this initiative, for which the participation of our visitors is essential, will make a difference.
The Roupeiro Solidário is only available during the last week of each month, from Monday to Sunday.
Currently Happening:
MAR Shopping Algarve, in partnership with various entities, provides the community with free screenings and awareness-raising actions, with a view to the early detection of health indicators that require medical follow-up, as well as the transmission of good practices in matters of health and well-being -be.
The screening schedule will be available and always updated at our events. This project also aims to make the community aware of the importance of screening in the early detection and treatment of diseases.
🌊 All on the Same Wave – Now Also Including 37 Seniors
At MAR Shopping Algarve, the “All on the Same Wave” project continues to grow with the community.
In the 1st edition, 10 children and young people in vulnerable situations participated in surfing, canoeing, and stand-up paddleboarding lessons – boosting self-esteem, emotional well-being, and opportunities.
In the 2nd edition, 37 seniors are now on the boards, finding in the sea a space for inclusion, health, and joy.
In partnership with the Dinamika Association, we contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, showing how local partnerships can transform lives, at all ages.

All on the Same Wave.
As part of the international campaign Love Your Stuff for Longer, MAR Shopping Algarve joined solidarity with sustainability and launched the Roupeiro Solidário project on November 23, 2021, in the PopUp format, which ran until January 6, 2022. ♻️
MAR Shopping Algarve managed to collect, in two weeks, 5,339 pieces of clothing and accessories for women, men and children. The pieces, which are in good condition and properly sorted, were delivered to five social solidarity institutions in the municipalities of Loulé and Faro, namely G.A.T.O. – Housing First Project, Portuguese Red Cross - Loulé-Faro, Victim Support Association – Loulé, CASA – Support Center for the Homeless and Refúgio Aboim Ascensão. On the 23rd of May 2022, in partnership with the Banco de Bens Donados, MAR Shopping Algarve reactivates the project and invites its visitors to donate items of clothing, footwear or accessories that they have in their wardrobe but that they do not use.
The Roupeiro Solidário is a way to raise awareness of solidarity, circularity and sustainability and, at the same time, continue to support institutions that, in turn, support the most disadvantaged communities.
This initiative returns in the last week of January.
On March 3rd, 4th and 5th, 2022, Ingka Centers Portugal, owner of the Meeting Places MAR Shopping Algarve and MAR Shopping Matosinhos, organized the first edition of the webinar “Employment 360º”, which aimed to enhance digital contact between employers, trainers, potential stakeholders and create networking, which would materialize into real opportunities for progressive evolution at work.
The event, free and open to the general public, aimed to present and publicise employment and training opportunities in Meeting Places, IKEA stores and other entities, with equity and inclusion as main concerns.

In collaboration with CRIA — Division of Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer of the University of Algarve, we intended to enable the creation of a start-up within the scope of a Kiosk concept and contribute to the promotion of new talent and the stimulation of entrepreneurship: https://www.ualg.pt/concurso-desafio-mar-startup.
In 2021, we were one of the partners of Centro Hospitalar da Universidade do Algarve and AEDMADA in the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin.
In April, with the aim of raising awareness of this theme, in partnership with the ALFA association and Urban Sketchers Algarve, we hosted a photography and drawing exhibition, in which the ALFA association presented a set of 11 portraits of people connected to insulin in the Algarve region and Urban Sketchers Algarve presented a set of drawings of animals that also produce insulin, a hormone essential to all vertebrates.
In parallel, various activities took place throughout the month, promoted by ALFA and Urban Sketchers Algarve within the scope of this initiative.
We promoted a campaign to donate items and equipment in favor of the Housing First and Shared Apartments project carried out by Associação G.A.T.O.
The solidarity box was located next to the Information Desk, at the main entrance and all the necessary goods could be found at the Information Desk. Small gestures make the biggest difference! ❤️
During the second half of July, MAR Shopping Algarve hosted 4 workshops to support the Eunices Project and hosted an action to raise donations, carried out by Mães do Mundo, an NGO whose purpose is to provide humanitarian aid and cooperation in Education in all countries of the world.
The project “Eunice Dolls for the World” aims to deliver around 6500 dolls to disadvantaged children in African countries. From the 17th to the 25th of July, the community was able to contribute to the production of these dolls by donating materials, such as fabrics, socks, wool and stuffing (drakalon) next to the Information Desk, on Floor 0.
MAR Shopping Algarve boosts adoption campaigns promoted by Animal Rescue Algarve - ARA 🐾
With this action we give the opportunity to meet a new friend for life and inform people about how they can support ARA and the animal cause in Portugal.
Over the past few years, MAR Shopping Algarve has marked Animal Day with various initiatives to support associations, promoting adoption and raising awareness of the problem of abandonment. At MAR Shopping Algarve, all animals are always welcome, being able to circulate in the common spaces (except the Catering Space) and in some of the participating stores.
During the holiday season, we encouraged everyone to help those who needed it most.
The initiative to support Refood Almancil aimed to help needy families in the region with the contribution of everyone who passed through the shopping center. Contributions could be deposited in the solidary fund near Pingo Doce.
Together, we made Christmas a happier time.
